Abu Marzouk: Ramallah authority blocked a third intifada

DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- The PA in Ramallah has blocked the outbreak of a third intifada in the West Bank using various non-nationalistic means to say the least, Dr. Mousa Abu Marzouk, the deputy political bureau chairman of Hamas, said.

He told Syrian daily 'Al-Watan' that reasons for a third intifada were numerous but no uprising occurred, blaming Mahmoud Abbas and his authority in Ramallah for that.

Abu Marzouk noted that the PA in Ramallah had coordinated with the Israeli occupation authority in quelling the uprising that started in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

In a related incident, Abbas's militias continued the detention campaign of Hamas supporters rounding up 11 Palestinians in the past 24 hours, local sources said on Saturday.

They added that four of those were ex-prisoners, noting that the 11 Palestinians were arrested in the districts of Ramallah, Qalqilia, Tulkarem, Jenin and Al-Khalil.

Meanwhile, Abu Marzouk, shifting to another issue, described the Arabs' allocation of 500 million dollars to support Jerusalem as "not acceptable", adding that Israel spent 14 billion dollars in 2009 to judaize Jerusalem and more than 120 billion dollars since it occupied the holy city in 1967 for the same purpose.

He noted, however, that what is more important than money was the presence of a determination and a plan to support the issue of Jerusalem.
