Israeli occupation police round up 34 Palestinians in Silwan

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation police on Tuesday rounded up 34 Palestinians in Silwan suburb, occupied Jerusalem, following violent confrontations in that troubled neighborhood, Hebrew media reported.

The Israeli radio said that different detention periods were accorded to those detainees ranging from 2 to 6 days until indictments are leveled against them for participation in clashes with the police forces.

Local sources said that Israeli policemen broke into one of the houses and detained its occupants and prevented citizens from approaching it, quoting the policemen as saying they were looking for the teen Mohammed Ghaith.

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation police stormed the occupied Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan at dawn Tuesday and broke into many Palestinian homes igniting renewed clashes with young men.

Eyewitnesses said that the police force backed by army troops stormed the suburb from a number of entrances and arrested young men in their homes at the pretext of participating in demonstrations.

They said that three young men were arrested and taken to Maskobeh detention center, adding that clashes erupted as a result in the suburbs of Bustan and Batn Al-Hawa.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) rounded up four Palestinian citizens in the West Bank including a 16-year-old boy, local sources said.

Hebrew daily Yediot Ahronot said on its website that two were arrested in Tulkarem and two in Al-Khalil.
