Qassam Brigades denies links to new Shalit video

GAZA, (PIC)-- The Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s armed wing, denies having any link to a video tape of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit held by Hamas in Gaza that was broadcasted by Israeli media on Monday evening.

“We deny issuing any video of Shalit. What was broadcasted was a fabricated and unfounded tape,” aid Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obeida in a press statement.

Abu Obeida stressed that if the brigades released any message or video it would be through its official website.

Israeli media broadcasted a half minute video it claims was released by the Qassam Brigades of two armed men standing next to captive Gilad Shalit, one of them carrying a machine gun and the other papers and things from his bag. After the screen goes black, the words “will the task end?” appear on the screen and then gunshots are heard.

The Brigades sent a message a few months back through its website of a two-minute cartoon in which Shalit’s father is depicted.

The film was to warn Israeli authorities that Shalit may end up like Israeli air force navigator Ron Arad, who disappeared years back in south Lebanon, if the Israeli army tried to take him by force.
