Islamic-Christian commission warns of Israeli intent to raze Aqsa Mosque

[ 06/12/2010 - 02:50 PM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- The Islamic-Christian commission for the support of Jerusalem and holy sites warned that the demolition of the southern parts of the Aqsa Mosque and its wide courtyard became a strategic goal for the Israeli occupation at this stage.

Secretary-general of the commission Dr. Hasan Khater said in an urgent press release on Monday that the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) is getting prepared in action and not in word for the moment of the expected collapse resulting from its excavations underground.

Dr. Khater noted that most of the Israeli circles have become convinced that the collapse of the Aqsa Mosque is a matter of time.

"We, in the Islamic-Christian commission for the support of Jerusalem, confirms that the Muslim nation in the world has the right to make sure about the safety of their Aqsa Mosque, which is one of their holiest sites and part of their faith; therefore, we demand the organization of the Islamic conference and the Arab League to form a high-level delegation of engineers and experts to visit the Aqsa Mosque and assess the condition of its buildings," the Palestinian official underscored.

Sabri: Two maps on Jerusalem landmarks finalized

[ 06/12/2010 - 04:32 PM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Sheikh Ekrema Sabri, the head of the higher Islamic authority and preacher of the Aqsa Mosque, has declared that two maps on landmarks of Jerusalem were finalized.

He explained in a statement on Monday that the authority's committee of Jerusalem heritage landmarks had completed the first map on the Old City of Jerusalem and a second on suburbs of Jerusalem was also completed.

The Sheikh said that the committee was keen during its work on documenting all historical places and sites in addition to scrutinizing their original names to preserve them from forgery and alteration.

The maps would be distributed free to all educational institutions, cultural centers, and youth organizations, he said, adding that the committee would commence on a second stage that would prepare copper signs with the names of historical buildings in the holy city to be fitted on those places.
