Judaism as Explained by an Israeli Rabbi

A little earlier this evening I posted an article regarding the Jewish War on Free Speech, in which I posited that Judaism, the religion, may be at least as much a part of the problem, if not more so, than Zionism, the political ideology. This is contrary to the way most people view the situation in the Middle East, but it’s important to reflect on the fact that it was Zionism that grew out of Judaism, and not the other way around.

Imagine if the foundation of the state of Israel had been predicated upon the teachings of Christ or the Buddha rather that the genocidal narrative of the Old Testament. Would we have seen the same relentless progression of wars, massacres and occupation-without-end that we have seen over the past 67 years? I tend to think not, or at least that the chances of it turning out that way would have been less likely.

At any rate, after posting that article I came across this video which does a rather superb job of illustrating my point. What the speaker is giving us is Judaism in a nutshell, or Judaism 101, you might say, at least as seen from the perspective of this one Israeli rabbi, and I’m sure there are probably many others like him. Not all of them would advocate some of the extreme things this guy seems to advocate, such as the assassination of a US president, but the view of Jews as destined to dominate the world, I would say, is very prevalent, and not only among religious Jews but secular Jews as well.

By the way, the rabbi speaking in the video is Yisrael Ariel, head of the newly-reconstituted Jewish Sanhedrin. He is also affiliated with the Temple Institute, an organization whose goal is to build a new Jewish temple in Jerusalem on the site now occupied by the Dome of the Rock. (Hat tip to Helvena.)
